After being voted in the top five global shopping destinations last year, it has been announced that Dubai will be hosting their very own watch week, the first horology event of this scale in the region.
Dubai Watch Week has been organised by Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, Dubai Culture and Arts Authority Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Geneve, and the 5 day event will celebrate and showcase the latest watch making innovations, horology history and dedication to craftsmanship. Beginning on October 18th the event hopes to appeal to both established and emerging watch collectors and horologists.
The event will host a variety of over 20 guest speakers, including some of the world’s master watchmakers, held at the Dubai International Financial Centre. Not only will it be an incredibly informative event, but other points of interest will include inspiring exhibitions and daily workshops hosted by some of the most respected watchmakers in the world, promising to be a once in a lifetime experience. There will also be internship and mentoring opportunities available throughout the week, aiming to pass on extensive horology knowledge and skill to the next generation.
Each year the event will focus on a part of the incredibly interesting watch world’s history, with the 2015 focus being on the history of the Swiss watch industry, and most of the workshops and exhibitions will link into aspects of this history.
