Enamel Patch Box in the Form of A Watch
A rare mid 18th Century Bilston patch box in the form of a watch. The box a realistic representation of a watch of the period. The dial formed as part of the case, Roman and Arabic numerals, good gilt beetle and poker hands under a fixed glass. Polychrome floral decoration to the front bezel. The centre of the back flat, polychrome enamel scene of two gentlemen in an Italian garden. The scene oddly painted at right angles to normal. Gilt bezels hinged to allow the box to open, gilt pendant and stirrup bow. Plain white interior, wax covering the arbor for the hands impressed with a seal.

Gold and Enamel Repeater with Chatelaine
A mid 18th Century English half quarter repeating cylinder in gold and enamel pair cases and matching chatelaine. Full plate fire gilt movement with signed and numbered silver dust cover. Pierced and engraved masked cock, diamond endstone in a polished steel setting. Engraved foot and plate for the silver regulator disc. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Polished steel cylinder, large escape wheel which appears to be gold. Push pendant half quarter repeating on bell in the case. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, gilt hands. 22 carat gold inner case, pierce and engraved sides, representation of a dove engraved in the centre. Gold push pendant with unusual horseshoe shaped bow. The movement released from the case by depressing a sprung steel button at six o’clock. Number of the watch engraved below the pendant, maker’s mark “HT” under the bell. Fine 22 carat gold and enamel outer case. The front bezel decorated in a geometric pattern of white and green champleve enamel repeated around the back. Central enamel oval cartouche of a classical urn draped with flowers on a pink ground. Surrounding the cartouche a tied ribbon and floral decoration of translucent green champleve enamel. Fine matching chatelaine, the gilt clip faced with gold decorated in enamel repeating the design on the case. Hanging from the clip are three matching gold faced cartouches joined by gold rings and small enamelled cartouches. The watch secured to the lowest cartouche by a hinge and swivel sprung gold clip with threaded safety collar. Four further chains of gold rings and small gold and enamelled cartouches also hang from the clip each terminating in a gold spring clip with threaded safety collar. Recent maroon morocco covered fitted display box. Lined in grey velvet, the chatelaine visible through the glazed lid, easel stand.

Pierced and engraved cock, engraved foot and plate for the silver regulator disc. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Plain three arm gilt balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. White enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, decorative pierced gold hands. Plain gold inner case, gold pendant and stirrup bow, maker’s mark “R.H”. Gold and enamel outer case, bezels decorated in a geometric pattern of white and blue champleve enamel. Central enamel oval cartouche of classically dressed woman waking an angel painted “en grisaille”. Border of white enamel dots imitating split pearls. Ed in white champleve enamel. Surrounding the cartouche foliate decoration in translucent dark blue champleve enamel, above a tied ribbon. Fine matching chatelaine, the gilt clip faced with gold decorated with a large oval depicting a classically dressed woman beside a brazier. Hanging from the clip are three matching gold faced cartouches joined by gold rings and small enamelled cartouches. The watch secured to the lowest cartouche by a gold spring clip with threaded safety collar. Four further chains of gold rings and small gold and enamelled cartouches also hang from the clip each terminating in a circular gold hinged clip with threaded safety collar. Silver Pair Cased Verge with Owner’s Name
An 18th Century English verge, the dial bearing the original owners name, in silver pair cases. Full plate fire gilt movement with round pillars. Pierced and engraved cock, silver regulator disc. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Unusual fully restored white enamel dial, the hour numerals replaced with the name of the original owner, “Thomas Machan”. Arabic numerals for the five minute markings, blue steel beetle and poker hands. Plain silver pair cases, silver pendant and bow, the inner with maker’s mark “TO”. Purpose made silver outer case hallmarked 1838.

Early Subsidiary Seconds English Verge Pocket Watch
An 18th Century English verge with subsidiary seconds in gilt metal pair cases. Full plate fire gilt movement with turned pillars. Pierced and engraved cock, silver regulator disc. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Lateral steel stop lever acting on the contrate wheel. White enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, and Arabic numerals, blue steel hands. Gilt metal pair cases, gilt pendant and bow, the inner bearing marks intended to resemble hallmarks.
An early example of a verge with subsidiary seconds. Although some makers introduced watches with seconds shortly after the balance spring was introduced the practice was largely abandoned as the verge escapement was not accurate enough. Plain three arm gilt balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Signed white enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, decorative stone set hands. Plain gold inner case, gold pendant and bow, number corresponding to that on the movement. Gold outer case, the front bezel set with a row of pastes, paste set button. Oval three colour gold cartouche of foliate decoration surrounded by a dark blue enamel border.

Gold and Moss Agate Etui
A mid 18th Century moss agate etui with gold repousse furniture. The two parts of the case constructed from panels of polished moss agate secured by repousse gold bands. Gold bow and large diamond button to open the top. The body houses a pair of gold handled scissors, gold bodkin, gold and steel double ended tweezers and file, pencil and notepad. Also included is a folding razor, the gold blade protected by a gold repousse body with panels of moss agate.

Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. White enamel dial with Arabic numerals, gold beetle and poker hands. Plain gold inner case, the marks indistinct. Gold and enamel outer case, maker’s mark “HB” in a serrated edged rectangle. The bezels with a row of white champleve enamel circles and blue champleve enamel decoration. Central oval cartouche of a classical urn in dark blue translucent champleve enamel bordered with white enamel. Above a tied ribbon of blue enamel and below translucent green champleve enamel of crossed psalm leaves. Fine matching chatelaine, the gilt clip faced with gold decorated in champleve enamel repeating the design on the case. Hanging from the clip are three matching gold faced gilt cartouches joined by gold rings and small enamelled cartouches. The watch secured to the lowest cartouche by a hinge and swivel hinged gilt clip with threaded safety collar. Two further chains of gold rings and small enamelled cartouches also hang from the clip each terminating in a gold spring clip with threaded safety collar. One chain has a gold crank key, now missing the shaft. Fitted in a shaped silk lined case covered in black shagreen.

Pink ground bordered by a band of translucent green champleve enamel and blue and white enamel decoration. Hanging from the clip are three matching gold faced cartouches joined by gold rings and small enamelled cartouches. The watch secured to the lowest cartouche by gilt spring clip. Four further chains of gold rings and small gold and enamelled cartouches also hang from the clip each terminating in a gold spring clip with threaded safety collar. Attached to the outer chains a faceted glass watch key and a gold mounted pink stone egg. Recent maroon morocco covered fitted display box.
