Plain cock with polished steel regulator, plain three arm gilt steel balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Polished steel cylinder, steel escape wheel. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, gilt Breguet hands. Small 18 carat open face case with coin edge middle. The gold bezel for the back set with a polished bloodstone overlaid with a substantial pierced gold plate set with diamonds in the form of Arabic characters. Wound and set through the signed gold cuvette.

Pierced and engraved round cock, polished steel regulator on top plate below the plain three arm steel balance. White enamel dial, polychrome enamel and gilt centre painted with two women and Oddfellows symbols, the all seeing eye above and below the motto “Amicita Amor et Veritas”. Around the scene “Independent Order of Odd Fellows Manchester Unity”. Roman numerals, gilt hands. Silver pair cases, plain silver inner with silver oval pendant and bow, maker's mark “JH” in an oval. Plain silver outer case with faded mark.

Gold engine turned dial with subsidiary seconds, Roman numerals, blue steel hands. Engine turned 18 carat open face case, gold slide on the ribbed middle. Wound though the signed and numbered gold cuvette, maker’s mark “WR” and “IMC”.

Rare Tic-Tac Escapement Alarm

A very rare mid 19^th Century tic-tac escapement alarm in a nickle drum case. Unusual full plate brass movement with a single barrel powering both the alarm and going trains. Plain cock with blue steel coqueret, plain three arm steel balance with blue steel spiral hairspring set in a circular aperture in the plate. Very rare tic-tac escapement where the English lever escape wheel acts directly on a polished steel roller on the balance staff. The tooth of the escape wheel rests on the roller for most of the vibration, giving impulse only in one direction as a slot in it passes. Single hammer for the alarm striking on the side of the case which acts as a rudimentary bell. Silvered dial with black waxed Roman numerals. Central alarm disk with waxed pointer, thumb piece at the back for adjustment. Single blue steel hand for the hours only. Nickle drum case with fixed glass. Outer morocco slip travelling case, the top apparently lost.

A very rare form of escapement. It is surprising to find it used in a travelling alarm

Plain three arm gold balance with blue steel spiral hairspring sunk in a circular aperture in the plate. English table roller lever escapement. Signed and numbered white enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, Roman numerals, blue steel hands. Plain silver full hunter case with ribbed middle, gold hinges. Number corresponding to that on the movement, maker’s mark “CBH” in an rectangle and additionally “IMC” and “SS”.

Engraved cock with polished steel regulator, compensation balance with blue steel overcoil hairspring. Club foot lever escapement, the lever with an unusual gold counterpoise with arrow heads. Escape and lever pivots with endstones in gold settings. White enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, Roman numerals, blue steel Breguet hands. Fine slim engraved 18 carat open face case. The bezels engraved in a geometric pattern, the back with a scene of colonnades and house with a boat on a lake in the background. Unusual broad engine turned bands under both bezels. Wound and set through the richly engraved gold cuvette signed for the retailer. Engraved gold pendant and plain bow, faux English marks and maker’s mark “SB” in a shield.

Full plate brass keywind fusee movement, four turned pillars secured by blue steel screws, engraved broad Ministry arrow. Harrison’s maintaining power with blue steel click and spring, blue steel barrel ratchet wheel and double toothed click on the barrel bridge. Plain brass cock, diamond endstone, two arm compensation balance with two circular weights and two timing nuts, Airy’s bar with two smaller circular weights resting against the rim. Freesprung palladium helical hairspring. Earnshaw spring detent escapement, escape pivots with endstones. The movement secured to the gilt dial plate by three blue steel screws. Engraved signed and numbered silvered brass dial with subsidiaries for seconds and power reserve indication. Broad Ministry arrow in the seconds subsidiary, Roman numerals, blue steel hands. Signed and numbered turned brass bowl, sprung hinged dust cover to the winding aperture. Screw brass bezel with flat glass. Brass gimbals and locking mechanism, numbered brass ratchet key. Two tier mahogany box, the top lid having been removed in common with most Ministry marine chronometers. Signed and numbered circular plaque with the broad Ministry arrow, folding brass handles.
