Description

A fine late 18^th Century triple cased gold and enamel watch made for the Turkish market.  Small full plate fire gilt movement, the gilt dust ring engraved “Converted by T Martin & Co – 151 Regent St.”.   Pierced and engraved cock with garnet  endstone,  silver regulator disc with Turkish markings.  Fusee and chain with Harrison's maintaining power,  compensation balance with blue steel spiral hairspring.  Signed white enamel dial with Turkish numerals, gold hands. Very fine gold and enamel pair cases and protective outer.  Gold and enamel inner case, the back with floral decoration over an engine turned ground  within a scalloped frame of red and white enamel.  The edge of the inner case decorated with red and blue champleve enamel,  gold pendant with rings of red and white enamel, gold  bow.  The gold  outer case with similar floral enamel decoration, the two halves with scalloped edges, the meeting faces engraved in blue and translucent red enamel, as are the bezels. The protective third case made in a similar fashion, the bezels in puce and translucent red enamel, glazed back revealing the floral decoration of the outer case.
