Description

A fine 19th Century English split seconds chronograph by Frodsham in a gold open face case.  Gilt three quarter plate keyless movement with going barrel.  Sixty minute recording chronograph work above the plate, split seconds work under the dial.  Plain cock with polished steel micrometer regulator, diamond endstone. Compensation balance with blue steel double overcoil hairspring. English double roller lever escapement, screwed in jewelling, escape and lever pivots with endstones. Signed and numbered white enamel dial with subsidiaries for continuous seconds and 60 minute record.  Fifth seconds markings for the flyback centre seconds chronograph, Roman numerals, blue steel hands and polished steel split seconds hand.  Very substantial plain 18 carat open face case with thief proof swivel bow, engraved monogram on the back cover.  Chronograph operated by the gold crown, split seconds by a button in the band.  Maker's mark “HMF” in a rectangle and number corresponding to that on the movement.  Accompanied by Frodsham certificate.
