An early 19th Century verge with polychrome enamel dial of historical United States interest in silver repousse pair cases. Full plate fire gilt movement with square baluster pillars. Pierced and engraved bridge cock, pierced and engraved plate for the silver regulator disc. Fusee and chain. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. White enamel dial, the centre with a polychrome enamel scene of depicting a sailor waiving to a three masted man of war flying the “First Navy Jack” of the United States. Roman and Arabic numerals, arcaded minute ring, later pierced hands. Plain silver inner case, maker's mark “WL” and number corresponding to that on the movement. Chased and engraved silver repousse outer case with a classical scene of three figures within a rococo frame.
