An 18th Century English verge, the dial bearing the original owners name, in silver pair cases. Full plate fire gilt movement with round pillars. Pierced and engraved cock, silver regulator disc. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Unusual fully restored white enamel dial, the hour numerals replaced with the name of the original owner, "Thomas Machan". Arabic numerals for the five minute markings, blue steel beetle and poker hands. Plain silver pair cases, silver pendant and bow, the inner with maker's mark "TO". Purpose made silver outer case hallmarked 1838.
