A late 18th Century French centre seconds calendar verge with decorative dial in a silver consular case. Full plate gilt fusee movement. Finely pierced and engraved bridge cock with polished steel coqueret, plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Silver regulator dial with gilt indicator. Wound through the white enamel dial decorated with a well painted polychrome enamel scene of a soldier taking control of a horse. Centre seconds, fine blue steel hand. Subsidiary chapter at six o'clock for the hours and minutes, a smaller chapter at twelve for the date, Arabic numerals, gold hands. Plain silver consular case, round silver pendant and bow, maker's mark "HM".
