A mid 19th Century English chronometer by Dent in a silver open face case and mahogany deck box. Full plate gilt keywind fusee movement. Blue steel ratchet click and spring for the barrel setup. Harrison's maintaining power. Plain cock with circular silver inset bearing the broad ministry arrow, diamond endstone. Large compensation balance with freesprung helical blue steel hairspring. Earnshaw type spring detent chronometer escapement, escape pivots with endstones. Signed and numbered white enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, Roman numerals, fine blue steel hands. Substantial plain silver open face case with gold hinges, maker's mark “LT” and number corresponding to that on the movement. Fitted in a three tier mahogany deck box with brass furniture. Signed and numbered circular plaque set in the lid bearing the broad ministry arrow. Spare glass and label from the Royal observatory, Greenwich dated 1892.
