A rare 18th Century skeletonised quarter repeating Swiss verge in a gold  consular case.

Description

A rare 18th Century skeletonised quarter repeating Swiss verge in a gold  consular case.  Full plate fusee movement with three round pillars. The plate pierced and engraved to reveal the trains, the barrel covers to both going and repeating trains also pierced revealing the blue steel mainsprings.  Engraved cock, polished steel coqueret set with a garnet endstone, small circular silver index, the square geared to a plate carrying the index pins.  Plain three arm steel balance. Push pendant a toc quarter repeating on two blocks in the case.   White enamel ring dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, decorative stone set pierced white metal hands. Winding through the glazed centre revealing the polished steel quarter repeating work below.   Double sided consular case, applied three colour gold decoration.  Gold push pendant and bow, pulse piece in the front bezel.

Skeletonised repeating watches of the period are very rare.
