Description

An early 20th Century Swiss quarter repeating tortoiseshell eight day travelling clock.  Gilt split three quarter plate keyless movement under a protective dust cover.  Standard watch movement running eight days by mounting a large going barrel above.  Plain cock, circular regulator visible through an aperture in the plate, compensation balance with overcoil hairspring.  Club foot lever escapement.  Lever quarter repeating on two steel gongs.  White enamel dial with Arabic numerals, blue steel hands.  Fine tortoiseshell travelling case, silver gilt mounts engraved “Asprey  London”.  Inlaid gold decoration on one cover.  The watch in a tortoiseshell hinged section opening to form a clock.  Gilt screw bezel, winding button and folding lever for the quarter repeat.
