Description
A large early 19th Century English verge with seconds and calendar in silver pair cases. Full plate gilt keywind fusee movement with dust cover. Polished steel Bosley regulator. Engraved mask cock with split pearl endstone, plain flat three arm polished steel balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. White enamel dial with subsidiaries for calendar and seconds, Roman numerals, blue steel hands. Matching silver pair cases, silver oval pendant and bow. Lateral steel stop lever, maker's mark “GM”.
Unusually the calendar is set by hand. The watch has been made without any automatic mechanism and it would not be possible to fit one unless a thicker dial plate was used.
