Description
A mid 19th Century Swiss Independent seconds cylinder in a decorative gold open face case. Keywind gilt bar movement with two suspended going barrels, the larger for the going train the other for the independent seconds. Plain cock with polished steel regulator, plain balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Ruby cylinder, steel escape wheel. White enamel dial with centre seconds, Roman numerals, blue steel hands. Slim 18 carat open face case with ribbed middle, small gold slide to operate the independent seconds train. Chased and engraved bezels, pendant and bow. The back engraved with a decorative cartouche. Gold cuvette covered in decorative engraving and inscribed “Secondes Independantes Echappement a cylinder a Pierre Quatorze trous en Rubis”.
