Description
A mid 19th Century French independent seconds lever with three colour gold dial in a gold open face case. Keywind gilt Lepine calibre movement, two suspended going barrels with polished Geneva stopwork, the larger for the going train. Plain cock, blue steel regulator with temperature compensation curb, polished steel parachute suspension for the top balance pivot. Uncut bimetallic balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Lever escapement with impulse on the pallets. Separate independent train for the centre seconds hand which jumps once each second. Fine engine turned gold dial, applied three colour gold decoration to the centre and outer border. Independent centre seconds, applied gold Roman numerals, blue steel Breguet hands. Engine turned 18 carat open face case with chased and engraved bezels, pendant and bow. Engine turned back with central engraved scene of a mother and child sitting beside a brook. Small slide in the ribbed middle to start and stop the independent seconds. Wound and set through the signed gold cuvette. Dedication engraved on the inside of the back lid to “C J C White – Saratoga Spigs”, a well executed coat of arms above.
