An early 19th Century English verge with gold dial in an engine turned gold case. Full plate gilt keywind fusee movement. Chased and engraved cock depicting a dove, diamond endstone. Polished steel Bosley regulator, plain three arm steel balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Wound through the gold dial, engine turned centre. Applied gold radially set Arabic numerals, unusual gold serpentine hands with blued tips. Fine engine turned 18 carat open face case, chased and engraved bezels, pendant and bow. Diagonal ribbed middle, the sprung front bezel opened by a button in the pendant, maker's mark "HJ".
