Gold repeating push in the pendant which is pulled out and twisted a quarter of a turn before use. Wound and set through the signed gold cuvette.

Plain cock with polished steel regulator, plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Polished steel cylinder, steel escape wheel. Slide quarter repeating on two polished steel gongs. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, gilt hands. 18 carat open face case the back engraved with a scene of a castle standing by a river, marked “Coeuvre – France”. Coin edge middle with a gold slide at two o’clock. Wound and set through the engine turned cuvette bearing details of the movement, maker’s mark “PR” in an oval.

Skeletonised three quarter plate gilt keywind movement, suspended going barrel with polished steel stopwork. Plain cock with blue steel regulator, plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Polished steel cylinder, steel escape wheel. Push pendant quarter repeating on two rectangular section polished steel gongs. Gold engine turned dial, Roman numerals, gold hands. Fine gold open face case the bezels set with a row of large split pearls. The back encrusted with graduated split pearls in a geometric pattern. The background of the design filled with many hundreds of tiny split pearls entirely covering the back. Trefoil bow, wound and set through the gold cuvette. Pearl set key and short gold chain.

Horn Singing Bird Box
A late 19th Century French automated singing bird in a polished horn box. Brass going barrel movement keywound through the base. Small bellows and piston mechanism provides air to a variable whistle to mimic birdsong operated by a system of cams and levers. The bird covered with multi-coloured feathered plumage, iridescent highlights to bib and wings. Moving the gilt lateral slide on the front of the box causes the oval lid to open and the bird to hinge into an upright position, rising through chased and pierced gilt grille. While playing the automated bird moves its bone beak, flaps its wings and moves from side-to-side, synchronised to the continuous birdsong. Polished horn box, a compartment at the back with a hinged horn lid. Oval gilt hinged cover to the bird engraved with a bird in a foliate engraved border.

A late 19th Century Swiss minute repeater in a fine engine turned full hunter case bearing the coat of arms of the Russian Empire. Keyless nickelled bar movement with going barrel. Plain cock with polished steel regulator. Compensation balance with blue steel overcoil hairspring. Club foot lever escapement, escape and lever pivots with endstones. Slide minute repeating on two polished steel gongs. White enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, Roman numerals, gilt hands. Substantial engine turned 18 carat full hunter case, gold slide in the band to actuate the repeater. The front cover depicts the coat of arms of the Russian Empire in black enamel, the ribbon joining the three crowns in blue enamel. Gold cuvette signed in Cyrillic “Pavel Buhre his Majesty’s Court Supplier”. Inside the front cover a dedication which translated as “Most Merciful it was granted to the artist of the French Troupe of the St. Petersburg Emperor’s Theatre – L Gistrily 1890”

Grained steel flyback chronograph work above the bridges. Plain cock with polished steel regulator, compensation balance with blue steel overcoil hairspring. Club foot lever escapement, escape and lever pivots with endstones. Slide minute repeating on two polished steel gongs, repeating train and hammers fully jewelled. White enamel dial with flyback centre seconds chronograph. Subsidiaries for day, date and second, the month displayed in a small rectangular aperture below twelve o’clock. Gold and blue enamel moonphase disc visible through the aperture in the seconds subsidiary. Roman numerals, gold hands, decorative pierced gold hands for the day and date. Very substantial large plain 18 carat full hunter case with five joint hinges, maker’s mark “JL” in an oval. Gold button in the band at twelve for the flyback centre seconds chronograph which is disabled when the cover is closed. Gold slide at six o’clock for the minute repeating. Plain gold cuvette, glazed cover to the movement. Four steel levers in the front bezel to allow the calendar functions to be set.

The top with polychrome enamel depicting goddesses and cherubs at the four corners. Gilt frame to the polychrome enamel oval lid with two cherubs and doves. Key wound through the plain base, key in the shape of a bird.

A late 19th Century Swiss musical watch in a large silver full hunter case. Keyless nickelled musical movement with very large going barrel playing at will or on the hour. Nickelled pinned barrel with polished steel comb of 30 graduated tignes. Under this a circular gilt keyless cylinder watch movement offset towards the pendant. Puce enamel dial decorate with musical instruments, offset white chapter with Roman numerals, gilt hands. Substantial large silver full hunter case, glazed clip on cuvette to reveal the mechanism, lateral silver slide in the band to play the music. Both the musical and watch movements are wound by the crown. When the pin above the crown is depressed the watch is wound, when not, the music is wound.

Large button at six o’clock for the minute repeat and a smaller button at two o’clock for the flyback chronograph. Gold cuvette engraved with details of the watch and medals won.
