Gold Pair Cased Cylinder by Graham
A mid 18th Century cylinder by Graham in gold pair cases. Full plate fire gilt movement with signed gilt dust cover, square baluster pillars. Pierced and engraved masked cock, diamond endstone in a polished steel setting, engraved foot and plate for the silver regulator disc. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Polished steel cylinder, large brass escape wheel. Contemporary white enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, gold beetle and poker hands. Purpose made plain 22 carat gold inner case, gold pendant, the top with applied gold repousse decoration, hallmarked London 1766, maker’s mark “R.P” in a rectangle. Purpose made 22 carat gold outer case, Greek key decoration to the bezels, the back with foliate engraving. Hallmarked London 1769, maker’s mark “HT”.

Rare Gold and Bloodstone Chatelaine Watch
A mid 18th Century English verge in a fine 22 carat gold mounted bloodstone consular case and matching chatelaine. Full plate fire gilt movement with square baluster pillars. Pierced and engraved masked cock, pierced and engraved foot and plate for the silver regulator disc. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Plain three arm gilt balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Wound through the white enamel dial, Roman and Arabic numerals, blue steel beetle and poker hands. Polished bloodstone consular case with gold mounts. A single piece of bloodstone forms the back of the case secured to the hinged gold bezels by a gold repousse frame chased and engraved with a representation of a cherub and doves. The front bezel set with four separate pieces of bloodstone. Gold pendant and bow. Fine matching chatelaine, the gilt clip faced with a thin piece of bloodstone secured under a gold repousse frame. Similarly decorated cartouche attached to the clip by a hinge. Five matching chains are supported by the clip of alternating cast links and gold rings. The watch hangs from the centre chain on a small hinged gold clip with threaded safety collar. The outer chains both have egg shaped accessories of differing design. The smaller of these is constructed in a similar fashion to the watch with two bloodstone shells mounted on a hinged gold middle. The other is formed from fine gold filigree work joined by a screw thread and has a gilt lining painted black. The two inner chains have five well carved pieces of coral in the form of a hand, a shoe, a dog, a fish and head of a jester. Two other small black carvings, possibly jet, are in the form of a shoe and a jug. Additionally, and most unusually, the gold watch key is attached to the top of the chatelaine by a hinge and swivel hinged gilt clip with threaded safety collar. Recent red velvet lined black morocco fitted display box.

Enamel Patch Box in the Form of A Watch
A rare mid 18th Century Bilston patch box in the form of a watch. The box a realistic representation of a watch of the period. The dial formed as part of the case, Roman and Arabic numerals, good gilt beetle and poker hands under a fixed glass. Polychrome floral decoration to the front bezel. The centre of the back flat, polychrome enamel scene of two gentlemen in an Italian garden. The scene oddly painted at right angles to normal. Gilt bezels hinged to allow the box to open, gilt pendant and stirrup bow. Plain white interior, wax covering the arbor for the hands impressed with a seal.

A mid 18th Century English half quarter repeating cylinder in gold and enamel pair cases and matching chatelaine. Full plate fire gilt movement with signed and numbered silver dust cover. Pierced and engraved masked cock, diamond endstone in a polished steel setting. Engraved foot and plate for the silver regulator disc. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Polished steel cylinder, large escape wheel which appears to be gold. Push pendant half quarter repeating on bell in the case. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, gilt hands. 22 carat gold inner case, pierce and engraved sides, representation of a dove engraved in the centre. Gold push pendant with unusual horseshoe shaped bow. The movement released from the case by depressing a sprung steel button at six o’clock. Number of the watch engraved below the pendant, maker’s mark “HT” under the bell. Fine 22 carat gold and enamel outer case. The front bezel decorated in a geometric pattern of white and green champleve enamel repeated around the back. Central enamel oval cartouche of a classical urn draped with flowers on a pink ground. Surrounding the cartouche a tied ribbon and floral decoration of translucent green champleve enamel. Fine matching chatelaine, the gilt clip faced with gold decorated in enamel repeating the design on the case. Hanging from the clip are three matching gold faced cartouches joined by gold rings and small enamelled cartouches. The watch secured to the lowest cartouche by a hinge and swivel sprung gold clip with threaded safety collar. Four further chains of gold rings and small gold and enamelled cartouches also hang from the clip each terminating in a gold spring clip with threaded safety collar. Recent maroon morocco covered fitted display box. Lined in grey velvet, the chatelaine visible through the glazed lid, easel stand.

Central enamel oval cartouche of three cherubs painted “en grisaille” on a pink ground bordered in white champleve enamel. Surrounding the cartouche decoration of translucent green champleve enamel and above a tied ribbon in dark blue enamel. Gold and enamel outer case, maker’s mark “HB” in a serrated edged rectangle. The bezels with a row of white champleve enamel circles and blue champleve enamel decoration. Central oval cartouche of a classical urn in dark blue translucent champleve enamel bordered with white enamel. Above a tied ribbon of blue enamel and below translucent green champleve enamel of crossed psalm leaves. Fine matching chatelaine, the gilt clip faced with gold decorated in champleve enamel repeating the design on the case. Hanging from the clip are three matching gold faced gilt cartouches joined by gold rings and small enamelled cartouches. The watch secured to the lowest cartouche by a hinge and swivel hinged gilt clip with threaded safety collar. Two further chains of gold rings and small enamelled cartouches also hang from the clip each terminating in a gold spring clip with threaded safety collar. One chain has a gold crank key, now missing the shaft. Fitted in a shaped silk lined case covered in black shagreen.

Bezels decorated with foliate green and white cloisonne enamel. Wide band or translucent orange enamel over an engine turned ground. Circular centre of cloisonne enamel on a matted gold ground.

Pierced and engraved cock with diamond endstone in a polished steel setting, engraved foot and plate for the silver regulator disc. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Winding through the white enamel dial, Roman and Arabic numerals, gold beetle and poker hands. Unusual gold and enamel consular case, the bezels decorated with raised iridescent enamel dots to imitate split pearls. The back in translucent deep maroon enamel over a decorative engine turned ground bordered by a row of small white enamel dots. Sprung gold bezel opened by a pin at three, gold pendant and bow. Gold key, the engraved centre of two chased sheets, gold wire border. Fitted in a gilt tooled red morocco box signed “Asprey & Company”.

A fine late 18th Century French quarter repeating cylinder with calendar in a gold and enamel consular case and matching chatelaine. Full plate gilt fusee movement, signed and numbered gilt dust cover pierced for the endstone and regulator. Finely pierced and engraved bridge cock, diamond endstone in a polished steel setting, plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Blued regulator dial with gold indicator. Polished steel cylinder, large steel escape wheel, pivots with screwed in jewelling. Push pendant dumb quarter repeating on blocks in the case. Signed white enamel dial with central day of the month calendar in red Arabic numerals. Black Arabic numerals for the hours and quarter minutes, blue steel calendar hand, gold beetle and poker hands. Raised brass edge to the dial signed “Gregson”. Fine and unusual gold and enamel consular case with hinged bezel and back cover both set within a recess of the body of the case with no discernable sign of a hinge. Opening either of them reveals the hinges to be set close to the movement. The small crescent of the bezels beyond the hinges moves below the recess in the body of the case. Two small recessed pins at three o’clock to open them independently. The bezels decorated with white and dark blue translucent champleve enamel. Oval cartouche of a floral bouquet finely painted in polychrome enamel. Border of dark blue translucent champleve enamel representing a ribbon tied in a bow at twelve. Fine matching chatelaine, the gilt clip faced with gold and enamel floral scene. Similarly decorated cartouche attached to the clip by a hinge. The watch secured to this by a swivel sprung gold clip with threaded safety collar. Two small gold and enamel cartouches also hang from the clip, each with a matching double sided gold and enamel key, one lacking the shaft. Recent black morocco covered fitted display box. Lined in red velvet, the chatelaine visible through the glazed lid, easel stand.

Polished steel cylinder, large steel, escape wheel. Push pendant quarter repeating striking on two blocks in the case. White enamel dial with Arabic numerals, decorative pierced gold hands. Raised engraved brass edge to the dial signed “Ageron”. Gold and enamel consular case with gold push pendant and stirrup bow. Radially chased back with a circular polychrome enamel centre of floral decoration on a blue ground. Gold and enamel chatelaine. Hinged gilt clip to the buckle, polychrome ovals scene of cherubs on a blue background. Suspended from the buckle are three broad chains, decorated with translucent blue enamel oval shaped cartouches, and four fine pierced chains with diamond shaped cartouches. Central rectangular gold and translucent blue enamel cartouche centred by a small rectangular polychrome enamel scene of a reclining cherub within a border of split pearls. Three broad chains with translucent blue enamel oval shaped cartouches are supported by the cartouche, the centre one for the watch, the others for double sided gold and enamel oval decorations. The two long outer broad chains terminate in a key and a seal set with a plain cornelian both mounted on swivels and decorated with blue and white enamel.
