A late 19th Century Swiss quarter repeater with concealed erotic scene in an engine turned gold full hunter case. Nickelled three quarter plate keyless movement with going barrel. Plain cock with polished steel regulator, compensation balance with blue steel overcoil hairspring. Club foot lever escapement. Slide quarter repeating on two steel gongs, cam and lever to drive the automaton above the plate. White enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, Roman and Arabic numerals, decorative pierced gilt hands. Substantial engine turned 18 carat rose gold full hunter case vacant shield shaped cartouche on the front cover within a garter, gold slide in the band. The gold cuvette made in two parts conceals the scene, the upper part engraved with details of the movement. Opening the upper gold cuvette reveals an amorous scene under a glazed cover of two parcel gilt figures on a gilt engine turned background. When the repeat is activated the man springs to life as the train runs.

Club foot lever escapement, escape and lever pivots with endstones in gold settings. Slide quarter repeating on two polished steel gongs, the train jewelled to the hammers. White enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, unusual blue steel hands. Substantial plain silver open face case with gold hand set, hinges, thumb piece and gilt winding button. Back and silver cuvette signed for the French retailer marked “Argent 0.900”, silver slide in the band. The back well engraved with a double headed eagle holding a sword and orb, crown above and centred by a heraldic shield.

Unusual Braille Silver Full Hunter Pocket Watch
A late 19th Century Swiss lever with unusual braille dial in a silver full hunter case. Damascened nickelled three quarter plate keyless movement with going barrel. Plain cock with steel micrometer regulator, uncut bimetallic balance with blue steel overcoil hairspring. Club foot lever escapement. Unusual silvered metal dial with touch pins in the middle of the Roman numerals. These pins are all raised with the exception of the one for the current hour which lies flush with the dial. As the minute hand passes twelve the pins change instantaneously. Blue steel hands, the minute hand more robust than usual so that it can be touched to read the time. Engine turned silver full hunter case, shield shaped cartouche on the front cover with engraved monogram. Large set lever in the band marked “Patent”, silver cuvette, maker's mark “K&R”.

A late 19th Century Swiss lever watch in a silver and niello full hunter case depicting “modern” inventions. Nickelled three quarter plate keyless movement with going barrel. Plain cock with polished steel regulator, compensation balance with blue steel overcoil hairspring. Club foot lever escapement. White enamel dial signed “F Bachschmid – F Borbolla – Manzanilla”. Subsidiary seconds, Arabic numerals and gilt minute markings, decorative pierced gilt hands. Rare silver and niello full hunter case depicting recent inventions in Art Nouveau style. On the front cover in applied gold an early open car with spoked wheels and three representations of electric light bulbs with wings to the side. Above the scene a microphone appears to be suspended. On the back cover two men in a wicker basket suspended below a balloon. On the side of the basket an anchor can be seen and one of the men is emptying sand from a bag. The three electric light bulbs are repeated. Signed silver cuvette, maker's mark “Niel HF”.

An impressive watch in excellent overall condition. The unusual clockwatch mechanism was patented by Henri-Onésime Stauffer of Neuchatel in February 1897. A single barrel is used to power both the strike and going trains so the watch will run for over two days if set to silent and the repeat is used sparingly. If the strike is enabled it will sound the hours and the quarters every quarter of an hour and still run for more than 24 hours.
