A late 19th Century American lever in a decorative gold full hunter case with box hinges. Gilt split three quarter plate fifteen jewel keyless movement with going barrel. Engraved cock with polished steel regulator, compensation balance with blue steel overcoil hairspring. Club foot lever escapement. Signed white enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, Roman numerals, blue steel hands. Decorative 14 carat full hunter case, engine turned covers with engraved centres and borders, the front with a vacant shield shaped cartouche. Engraved middle, box hinges and shaped support for the pendant, plain gold cuvette.

A fine late 19th Century English minute repeating freesprung lever with minute recording flyback chronograph in a heavy gold half hunter case. Gilt half plate keyless movement, going barrel under a raised section in the plate. Plain cock with diamond endstone, freesprung compensation balance with blue steel overcoil hairspring. Screwed in jewelling, escape and lever pivots with endstones. English table roller lever escapement. Slide minute repeating on two polished steel gongs. Flyback minute recording chronograph work situated under the dial. Signed and numbered white enamel dial with flyback centre seconds, subsidiaries for minute recording and continuous seconds. Roman numerals, blue steel seconds hands, gold half hunter hands. Substantial plain 18 carat half hunter case with blue enamel chapter ring, two flysprings to the front cover. Recessed gold slide for the minute repeat in the band at twelve. Round gold button for the chronograph at six, disabled when the front cover is closed. Plain gold cuvette, maker's mark “PW” in an oval and number corresponding to that on the movement. Tan presentation box lined with purple velvet signed for the makers of the watch, “Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company – 112 Regent Street”.

Plain cock with polished steel micrometer regulator. Compensation balance with blue steel overcoil hairspring. Club foot lever escapement, escape and lever pivots with endstones. Slide minute repeating on two polished steel gongs. Signed white enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, Roman and Arabic numerals, blue steel hands. Unusual plain 18 carat open face case converted to be used as a wristwatch by adding a second pendant and false crown at six o'clock, probably early in its life. Applied wire work monogram to the back cover, slide close th the pendant which stops the hands being set. Engraved dedication on the gold cuvette, “Mary D Biddle from her children SFBB – LMBR – HJB – CWB Christmas 1894”.

Plain 18 carat half hunter case with blue enamel chapter ring, monogram on the back cover and a dedication engraved on the gold cuvette. Two flysprings to open the front cover, maker's mark “JW” in an oval and number corresponding to that on the movement.

A fine late 19th Century English minute repeating chronograph with calendar in a gold and enamel full hunter case. Gilt three quarter plate keyless movement, going barrel under a raised section in the plate. Plain cock with polished steel regulator, compensation balance with blue steel overcoil hairspring. English table roller lever escapement escape and lever pivots with endstones. Above the plate the grained steel work for the minute recording chronograph. Slide minute repeating on two polished steel gongs. Signed white enamel dial with flyback centre seconds chronograph and subsidiaries for minute record and continuous seconds. Below the centre a rectangular aperture for day, date and month engraved on silvered discs. Roman numerals, blue steel hands. Substantial 18 carat full hunter case, a polychrome enamel coat of arms on the front cover. Gold recessed repeating slide, hand set and chronograph button in the band which is disabled when the front cover is closed. Small steel lever sets in the front bezel for the calendar. Gold cuvette, maker's mark “EN” in a rectangle and number corresponding to that on the movement.
A fine example of late 19th Century English watchmaking. One of the more complex movements made by the firm of Nicole Nielsen with the rare inclusion of an unusual form of calendar. Nicole Nielsen manufactured for many of the eminent watchmaking firms in the second half of the 19th Century. Some were also retailed in other countries such as Australia and America, Tiffanys being one of their principal customers. Casemaker Emil Nielsen, 14 Soho Square.The coat of arms are those of Kenelm Charles Edward Pepys, 4th Earl of Cottenham (1874 – 1919) who succeeded his father in 1881 (ref.
