Double Sided Silver Calendar

A late 19th Century Swiss lever with double sided calendar in a silver case. Keyless gilt bar movement with going barrel. Plain cock with polished steel regulator. Compensation balance with overcoil hairspring, club foot lever escapement. White enamel dial with subsidiary seconds and Roman numerals, blue steel hands. Further calendar indications are on the other side of the watch. The phase of the moon is indicated through an aperture in the centre on a blue steel and gold disc. The month together with the number of days in the month shown in a rectangular aperture at twelve o’clock. Day of the week and date indicated by a single blue steel hand. The odd days of the month in Arabic numerals on the fixed gilt centre. Day of the week shown by the initial, in English, Sunday being marked in Red on a silvered ring. This ring can be rotated by a thumb wheel to align the correct day with the date. The day, date and moonphase changed automatically by a pawl on the movement. Plain double sided silver case, the calendar side under two glasses.

Horn Singing Bird Box

A late 19^th Century French automated singing bird in a polished horn box. Brass going barrel movement keywound through the base. Small bellows and piston mechanism provides air to a variable whistle to mimic birdsong operated by a system of cams and levers. The bird covered with multi-coloured feathered plumage, iridescent highlights to bib and wings. Moving the gilt lateral slide on the front of the box causes the oval lid to open and the bird to hinge into an upright position, rising through chased and pierced gilt grille. While playing the automated bird moves its bone beak, flaps its wings and moves from side-to-side, synchronised to the continuous birdsong. Polished horn box, a compartment at the back with a hinged horn lid. Oval gilt hinged cover to the bird engraved with a bird in a foliate engraved border.

A very rare late 19^th Century lever by Patek Philippe with 24 hour digital dial fitted in a nickle open face case. High quality keyless bar movement with going barrel. Plain cock with polished steel micrometer regulator adjusted by a snail cam, steel pointer on the plate. Compensation balance with blue steel overcoil hairspring. Club foot lever escapement, the lever with counterbalance extension arms extending beyond the pallets. Escape and lever pivots with endstones in polished steel settings. Snailed steel wolf's teeth winding work. Signed white enamel dial with subsidiary seconds and a central minute hand. At twelve a small circular aperture for the hours marked 1 – 24 which change instantaneously. Arabic numerals, blue steel hands. Fitted in a plain open face nickle case with screw bezel and back.

A very rare, perhaps unique, Patek Philippe model with a 24 hour jump hour indication. Based on the movement for the Chronometro Gondolo this is an early example according to its number.
