A sprung second lid to the gold cuvette conceals an erotic scene of parcel gilt figures on a background engraved with table and interior of a room. The figures engaged in an amorous encounter spring to life when the repeat mechanism is activated.

Rare Gold Mystery Watch

A late 19^th Century Swiss mystery watch in a gold double sided case. The gilt cylinder movement relegated to the crescent shaped portion of the watch between the glass dial and the pendant. Keyless with small going barrel. Small plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring, polished steel regulator. Polished steel cylinder, steel escape wheel. Glass dial with gilt Arabic numerals and minute ring, decorative engraved gold masks. The gilt hands are driven by a glass disc which has a toothed brass wheel attached to its outer edge engaging the train. The miniature motion work for the hands is set between another glass disc and the dial. There is no provision to set the hands apart from moving them manually, which is common in these watches. Plain 14 carat gold case and masks, glazed back and front. Gold button in the band to release the sprung front cover, the crown with an internal ratchet to wind the watch.

Double Sided Silver Calendar

A late 19th Century Swiss lever with double sided calendar in a silver case. Keyless gilt bar movement with going barrel. Plain cock with polished steel regulator. Compensation balance with overcoil hairspring, club foot lever escapement. White enamel dial with subsidiary seconds and Roman numerals, blue steel hands. Further calendar indications are on the other side of the watch. The phase of the moon is indicated through an aperture in the centre on a blue steel and gold disc. The month together with the number of days in the month shown in a rectangular aperture at twelve o’clock. Day of the week and date indicated by a single blue steel hand. The odd days of the month in Arabic numerals on the fixed gilt centre. Day of the week shown by the initial, in English, Sunday being marked in Red on a silvered ring. This ring can be rotated by a thumb wheel to align the correct day with the date. The day, date and moonphase changed automatically by a pawl on the movement. Plain double sided silver case, the calendar side under two glasses.

Recessed gold slide in the band, gold cuvette and bow, maker's mark “AS” in a rectangle.
