Silver Mystery Watch
A late 19th Century Swiss mystery watch in a silver double sided case. The gilt cylinder movement relegated to the crescent shaped portion of the watch between the glass dial and the pendant. Keyless with going barrel, the winding crown featuring a ratchet mechanism. Small plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring, polished steel regulator. Polished steel cylinder, steel escape wheel. Glass dial with gilt Arabic numerals and minute ring, decorative engraved silver masks. The gilt hands are driven by a glass disc which has a toothed brass wheel attached to its outer edge engaging the train. The miniature motion work for the hands is set between another glass disc and the dial. There is no provision to set the hands apart from moving them manually, which is common in these watches. Plain silver case glazed back and front. Rectangular button in the band to release the sprung front cover, silver bow.

Push quarter repeating on two steel gongs, visible regulator to the repeating train. White enamel dial with flyback centre seconds chronograph. Subsidiaries for date and seconds with the moonphase below, rectangular apertures for day and month in French either side of the centre, Roman numerals, pierced gilt hands. Large purpose made stainless steel wristwatch case with glazed back to display the movement. Brush stainless steel middle with calendar set pins and rectangular push piece for the repeat below six . Substantial brown leather strap with white stitching.

Large Gold Hunter Minute Repeating Automaton
A late 19th Century Swiss minute repeating lever automaton in a large gold full hunter case. Gilt three quarter plate keyless movement with going barrel. Plain cock with polished steel regulator, compensation balance with overcoil hairspring. Club foot lever escapement. Push button minute repeating on two polished steel gongs, visible regulator to the train. Small enamel dial with puce centre, Roman numerals in gilt circular cartouches, gilt minute markings. Small subsidiary seconds below with gilt markings, pierced gilt hands. Silvered ground, polychrome enamel figures of a lady and gentleman either side of the dial standing on a floral base. These figures appear to strike the bells above the dial when the repeat mechanism sounds. Substantial large plain 18 carat gold full hunter case with gold push and winding button. Signed gold cuvette detailing features of the watch, movement under a glazed cover.

Silver Digital Dial Lever by IWC
A late 19th Century Swiss Pallweber patent lever by IWC with digital dial in a silver open face case. Keyless gilt split three quarter plate movement with going barrel. Marked “PATENT PALLWEBER” under the centre wheel. Plain cock with polished steel regulator, compensation balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Club foot lever escapement. Signed white enamel dial marked in Spanish, “Horas – Minutos”. Central aperture revealing the digital indication of minutes displayed by two silvered discs. A circular aperture above showing the hours on a third silvered disc. Below these a small subsidiary seconds dial. When the seconds hand passes 60 the minute changes instantaneously changing the ten minute marked and hour when appropriate. Silver open face case, the back decoratively engraved and bearing a vacant shield shaped cartouche. Plain silver cuvette and winding button.
Josef Pallweber of Salzburg took out a Patent in England on 1883 for his mechanism to display the time in digital format. It was adopted by International Watch Company in 1884 and produced by them for about five years. In 2018, to celebrate their 150th anniversary, IWC produced a wristwatch with a similar mechanical digital display as a tribute to Pallweber. Large Square Decorative Gunmetal Repeater
A late 19th Century quarter repeating lever in an unusual large inlaid gunmetal square case in Japanese style with its matching pagoda stand. Gilt three quarter plate keyless movement with going barrel. Plain cock with polished steel regulator, uncut bimetallic balance with spiral hairspring. Club foot lever escapement. Push button quarter repeating on two steel gongs. Signed white enamel dial with Roman numerals, blue steel hands. Unusual large square gunmetal case inlaid with gilt and silver decoration to imitate Japanese lacquerware. Hinged back opening to form an easel. The movement under a circular glass in a gilt bezel, gilt repeating button in the side. Fine rosewood stand in the form of a pagoda, the watch hanging beneath as though it were a ceremonial gong, the blue steel and silver hammer resting in crutches beneath. Four carved and pierced columns support the roof which has a carved fluted ceiling to the central hook. The exterior of the roof carved to imitate shingles has dragons at its corners.
A fine interesting piece. The chiming watch is hung to resemble a large brass gong and sounds by depressing the button rather than by hitting it with the hammer provided. Benson supplied many watches to the Japanese market this may have been special commissionedCirca 1890£5,750.00 Read more -

Large signed white enamel dial with flyback centre seconds chronograph, 30 minute recording subsidiary. Small chapter of Roman numerals in the centre. Outside this four concentric circles of red Arabic numerals marked from 12 to 60 and at the edge the black markings for the centre seconds chronograph, blue steel hands.
