An early 18th Century English quarter repeating verge with dust cover bearing Queen Anne’s Coat of Arms in fine decorative gem set gold pair cases. Deep full plate fire gilt movement, silver dust cover engraved with the Coat of Arms of Queen Anne Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates, turned baluster pillars. Pierced and engraved cock with pierced and engraved foot. Plain steel balance, gilt regulator disc. Push pendant quarter repeating striking a bell in the case, engraved repeating barrel. Signed gold champleve dial, arcaded minute ring, Roman and Arabic numerals, blue steel beetle and poker hands. 22 carat gold inner case pierced and engraved with a fine mask and depictions of monkeys in military uniforms, split bezel for the glass. Fine 22 carat gold outer case of unusual construction set with lapis lazuli, rubies emeralds and diamonds. The body of the case decorated in chased and engraved repousse work, panels in the back and bezel pierced. The stones are set in gold cages fixed inside the case and presented through cutouts in the outer. Central oval lapis lazuli stone is set in the largest cage surrounded by a border of diamonds and rubies.

Unusual Mock Pendulum Verge with Enamel Scenes
An early 18th Century English verge with mock pendulum in a very unusual silver consular case set with polychrome enamels. Deep full plate fire gilt movement, gilt Egyptian pillars capped by a thin blue steel plate and silver tops. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates. The table of the bridge cock covered with a polychrome enamel portrait of a young woman holding a dove, semi-circular lower section pierced and glazed to reveal the bob on the balance. Engraved gilt rim enclosing the balance protecting it from dust. Silver regulator disc flanked by two pierced and engrave silver affixes. Wound through the signed silver dial, Roman and Arabic numerals, blue steel beetle and poker hands. Silver consular case of very unusual design, both front and back covers opening sharing the same seven joint hinge with the middle section. The middle constructed much like the inner of a pair case with a glazed split bezel hinged with the movement which the chased and engraved bezel closes over. Silver pendant and ring bow. Chased and engraved back cover set with a large polychrome enamel scene of an elderly man and young lady. Opening the back cover reveals the back of the movement framed in a plain deep silver bezel and the reverse of the plaque with is decorated with another polychrome enamel scene of a courting couple and onlooker.

In the centre of the back a fine polychrome enamel circular plaque depicting a classically dressed couple.

An early 18th Century continental pocket combination brass sundial and compass in a leather case. Octagonal brass body housing a circular compass with silvered dial, blue steel hand under a glass. Folding circular sundial index supported by a crescent index marked in degrees. Folding brass gnomon. Engraved on the underside the latitudes of cities, “Elev a Poli – Langres 47 – Konigsbe 54 – Lisabon 39 -L Grafs”. Fitted in an octagonal leather carrying case.

Converted to English table roller lever escapement with replaced engraved cock and compensation balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Push pendant quarter repeating on a bell in the case. Later white enamel dial with and Arabic numerals, fine blue steel beetle and poker hands. Pierced and engraved 22 carat gold pair cases, the substantial repousse back decorated with a central scene surrounded by four busts.

Pierced and engraved plate for the silver regulator disc. Plain gilt balance. Rack hour striking on a bell, large engraved resting barrel for the strike train. Plain gilt metal inner with steel strike / silent lever, original bell for the movement. Deep gilt outer case covered in underpainted horn.
