Two gilt oval keys, one for the Chinese market signed “Bovet” and the other depicting Napoleon on one side and a sword and flags on the other. Four other gold cased and gilt keys.

Engraved cock with diamond endstone, polished steel regulator, the curb pins operating through a slot in the cock. Plain three arm polished steel balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Duplex escapement, large brass escape wheel, pivots with endstones. White enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, Roman numerals, blue steel seconds hand, gilt hands. Gilt metal consular case, gilt oval pendant and bow. Wound and set through the sprung, signed and numbered gilt metal cuvette.

An unusual English verge in silver pair cases. Full plate fire gilt movement with unusual arched bridge cock, pierced and engraved plate for the silver regulator disc. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Convex white enamel dial with Arabic numerals, Roman numerals at the quarters , gilt hands. Matching silver pair cases, silver rectangular pendant and bow, maker's mark “IR”. Unusual outer case which hinges at six o'clock, the button and spring by one o'clock.

Rare Swiss Sun and Moon Verge

A very rare late 18^th Century Swiss verge with sun and moon dial in a silver open face case. Unusual slim full plate gilt fusee movement. The barrel and fusee under a profusely engraved plate standing higher than the rest of the train. Pierced and engraved bridge cock, broad engraved feet, steel coqueret. Plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Rare polychrome enamel dial depicting a church with its clock tower, Arabic numerals in a semi-circle above. The hours are indicated by a polychrome enamel disc which rotates once every 24 hours. This is viewed through the large aperture and has on one half the sun in a clear blue sky and on the other the moon among clouds. At the edge of the semi-circle the hours are marked from six through twelve and back to six in Arabic numerals. As the sun disappears at the right of the aperture the moon appears at the left. At the centre a small white square forms the face of the church clock marked at the quarters in Roman numerals, the miniature hand rotating once an hour. Plain silver open face case with ribbed middle.

A very rare late example of a sun and moon watch using a novel way of indicating the minutes. The plain silver back is probably a replacement, the original would have had a shutter to allow the watch to be wound from the back

Rare Silver Verge with Naval Automaton

An unusual late 18^th Century English verge with automaton depicting Nelson's victory at the Battle of the Nile. Full plate fusee movement with round pillars. Unusual engraved cock with mask, silver regulator on engraved plate and separate plate left vacant for engraving with the retailer's name. Plain three arm steel balance. Polychrome enamel dial with offset chapter of Arabic numerals, decorative pierced gilt hands. The lower part of the dial depicting the battle of the Nile which took place in Aboukir bay in 1798. The ships of the British fleet on the right and the French on the left, one ablaze. Ships of both nations move past the oval aperture on a restored disc as the watch runs. Matching silver pair cases, silver pendant and bow, maker's mark “TC”.

An interesting watch produced only a short time after the battle. See April 2006 NAWCC article about a very similar watch which is in a case by the same maker, Thomas Carpenter, in 1803

Substantial purpose made 18 carat consular case with chased and engraved bezels and pendant. Plain gold inner dome, maker’s mark “Y&D” and number corresponding to that on the movement.
