Gold and Enamel Chatelaine Repeating Virgule

A fine late 18^th Century quarter repeating French virgule in a pearl set gold and enamel consular case with matching macaroni chatelaine. Unusual small full plate gilt fusee movement, the top plate constructed in sections giving more height for the repeating train and barrel. Finely pierced and engraved bridge cock with polished steel coqueret. Plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring, blue steel index below, index on the plate. Rare virgule escapement, large brass escape wheel. Push pendant dumb quarter repeating on two blocks in the case. Winding through the white enamel dial with radially set Arabic numerals, gold beetle and poker hands. Fine gold consular case, the bezel and back both set with a single row of large split pearls. Gilt decoration of an urn on the back on translucent dark blue enamel over an engine turned ground. Matching macaroni gold and enamel chatelaine made up of four different shaped cartouches. All enamelled on both sides in various patterns, one bearing a small polychrome enamel scene. Red velvet covered presentation box signed for an Italian retailer.

French Gold and Enamel Repeater with Chatelaine

A fine late 18^th Century French quarter repeating cylinder with calendar in a gold and enamel consular case and matching chatelaine. Full plate gilt fusee movement, signed and numbered gilt dust cover pierced for the endstone and regulator. Finely pierced and engraved bridge cock, diamond endstone in a polished steel setting, plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Blued regulator dial with gold indicator. Polished steel cylinder, large steel escape wheel, pivots with screwed in jewelling. Push pendant dumb quarter repeating on blocks in the case. Signed white enamel dial with central day of the month calendar in red Arabic numerals. Black Arabic numerals for the hours and quarter minutes, blue steel calendar hand, gold beetle and poker hands. Raised brass edge to the dial signed “Gregson”. Fine and unusual gold and enamel consular case with hinged bezel and back cover both set within a recess of the body of the case with no discernable sign of a hinge. Opening either of them reveals the hinges to be set close to the movement. The small crescent of the bezels beyond the hinges moves below the recess in the body of the case. Two small recessed pins at three o’clock to open them independently. The bezels decorated with white and dark blue translucent champleve enamel. Oval cartouche of a floral bouquet finely painted in polychrome enamel. Border of dark blue translucent champleve enamel representing a ribbon tied in a bow at twelve. Fine matching chatelaine, the gilt clip faced with gold and enamel floral scene. Similarly decorated cartouche attached to the clip by a hinge. The watch secured to this by a swivel sprung gold clip with threaded safety collar. Two small gold and enamel cartouches also hang from the clip, each with a matching double sided gold and enamel key, one lacking the shaft. Recent black morocco covered fitted display box. Lined in red velvet, the chatelaine visible through the glazed lid, easel stand.

Diamond Set Gold and Enamel Chatelaine Watch

A late 19^th Century English diamond and pearls gold and enamel consular cased watch with matching chatelaine. Full plate fire gilt fusee movement with round pillars. Geometrically pierced and engraved cock, diamond endstone in a polished steel setting, silver regulator disc. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Converted to English table roller lever escapement. Winding through the white enamel dial with radially set Arabic numerals, decorative stone set hands. Fine gold consular case set with diamonds and pearls. The translucent dark blue enamel bezels bordered by a narrow white enamel band are both set with a single row of large split pearls. The back covered with translucent dark blue enamel over a line engine turned ground, applied white metal decoration set with diamonds. Gold pendant and bow. Fine matching chatelaine, the gilt clip supporting a small rectangular gold and champleve enamel cartouche bordered by split pearls. Three chains of pearls, each with a small diamond set gold and enamel link attach to a further large oval cartouche similarly decorated. This suspends the watch on pearl set links and a pearl set gold spring clip with threaded safety collar. The oval cartouche also supports two diamond set gold and enamel bells with tassels of graduated pearls and a matching gold and enamel key. Later black morocco covered presentation case lined with gray velvet.

An early 19^th Century English spring detent chronometer by Barraud in a silver open face case. Full plate gilt keywind fusee movement, Harrison’s maintaining power. Engraved cock with diamond endstone in a polished steel setting, plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Earnshaw type spring detent escapement, the detent mounted on a long curved gilt arm to allow fine adjustment by a screw. Escape pivots with endstones. Signed and numbered white enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, Roman numerals, blue steel seconds hand, gilt hands. Purpose made engine turned silver open face case hallmarked London 1839. Maker’s mark “CBH” and number corresponding to that on the movement.

Fully restored gold and enamel back with a polychrome lakeland scene, the sky of translucent light pink enamel over an engine turned ground. Ribbed middle, small button in the pendant to open the front bezel.

Rare Diamond Set Visible Balance Pendant Watch

A small early 19^th Century Swiss watch with visible diamond set balance in a gold and enamel diamond set shield shaped case. The unusual full plate cylinder movement following the form of the case with the balance visible on the front. Very slender bar supporting the diamond endstone, four arm balance bearing four small diamonds. The balance above a blue steel ground decorated with a polished steel cross. Below the balance a small white enamel dial of Arabic numerals, blue steel hands. Blue and white champleve enamel mask bearing two serpents frame the balance and dial. Rock crystal cabochon protecting the dial and balance. The front and back borders of the case set with graduated diamonds of varying cuts, diamond set gold bow. Hinged gold back, polychrome enamel floral decoration on translucent dark blue enamel over an engine turned ground. Under the lid the winding, setting and adjusting squares. Slender gold key set with three diamonds, the top reflecting the shape of the case. Small red morocco presentation box.

Engraved cock with large garnet endstone visible through the pierced cuvette. Plain three arm polished steel balance with blue steel spiral hairspring, silver regulator on the engraved gilt plate. Polished steel cylinder, large brass escape wheel. Fine gold dial, matted ground with applied gold decoration to the centre. Applied gold Arabic numerals, fine serpentine blue steel hands. Engine turned 18 carat open face case with ribbed middle. Wound through the signed and numbered gilt cuvette pierced to reveal the table of the cock. Maker’s mark “LC”.

Gold engine turned dial, applied gold Arabic numerals on a matted ground, pierced gilt hands. Attractive 18 carat open face case with reeded middle, pendant and bow. Four colour gold floral decoration on the back protected by a glazed cover. Both the back glazed cover and front bezel are opened by a split button in the pendant. Long gold snake chain, two gold sliders with four colour gold decoration matching the case. "T" bar with applied gold decoration and a short snake chain and key.
