Gold Watch and Diamond Set Ring Mount

A rare late 18^th Century miniature cylinder cylinder watch and diamond set gold ring housing. Very small full plate movement with fusee and chain. Finely pierced and engraved bridge cock with steel coqueret, steel regulator on top plate below the plain three arm gilt balance. Polished steel cylinder, brass escape wheel. Winding through the small white enamel dial, roman numerals, gilt hands. Small plain gold consular case, gold pendant and bow. The front bezel set with a row of small diamonds. Gold ring with a hinged mount for the watch, the back engraved with a monogram. The shank of the ring set with diamonds.

A very rare small movement which measures only 14.3 mm across. Probably the smallest known fusee movement.

A late 18^th Century French verge in gold and enamel pair cases and glazed protective outer. Full plate fire gilt movement with pentagonal baluster pillars. Pierced and engraved cock, pierced and engraved foot and plate for the silver regulator disc. Fusee and chain. Plain three arm gilt balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. White enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, pierced gilt hands. Plain gold inner case with gold pendant and bow, circular gilt shutter to the winding aperture fitted internally, a slot cut to allow it to be moved. Gold outer case, the bezels engraved and decorated with champleve enamel. The back set with fine polychrome enamel portrait of a young lady. Third protective outer case with glazed back, the covering to the gilt bezels now lacking.

Plain gilt metal inner case, gilt pendant and bow. Gilt metal outer covered in translucent horn underpainted with an oval scene of Britannia standing on the shore as a British naval ship departs. The scene and bezel decorated with ferns.

Finely pierced and engraved bridge cock with steel coqueret, plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Silver regulator dial with blue steel indicator. Winding through the white enamel dial, Arabic numerals, decorative pierced gilt hands. Small gold consular case, the bezels decorated with applied gold beads. The back decorated with dark blue translucent enamel over an engine turned ground. Applied diamond set mask with a circular aperture to reveal the enamelled gold centre of the case. Silver gilt diamond set chatelaine. Oval buckle of dark blue translucent enamel over an engine turned ground, applied diamond set floral decoration and border. Five diamond set chains support the watch. Similarly decorated key and plain seal attached to two further chains.

Pierced and engraved cock, large diamond endstone in a blue steel setting, pierced and engraved foot and plate for the silver regulator disc. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Winding through the signed white enamel dial, Roman and Arabic numerals, gold beetle and poker hands. 22 carat gold and enamel consular case, the bezels with a scalloped pattern of translucent dark blue and white champleve enamel. The back of translucent dark blue enamel over an engine turned ground. Navette shaped polychrome enamel garden scene of a mother and two children within a white champleve enamel border. Round gold pendant and stirrup bow, maker’s mark “I.W”. Fine gold Breguet style ratchet key, the ring with dark blue champleve enamel. Short gold chain, a hinged gold clip with threaded safety collar at one end and small spring clip at the other.

Rare Miniature Quarter Repeating Pendant Watch

A very rare late 18^th Century Swiss quarter repeating cylinder with visible balance in a diamond set gold pendant. Small full plate rectangular movement with canted corners. Almost half of the top plate cut away to accommodate the small bell. Keywound resting barrel, Polished steel cylinder, steel escape wheel. Decorative balance, the rim set with small diamonds visible through the dial. Four of the five arms of the balance are cut through to all to allow access to the top balance pivot. Slide quarter repeating on a bell. Signed white enamel dial with subsidiary of Roman numerals below the visible balance, blue steel Breguet hands. Small gold rectangular case with canted corners pierced and engraved to allow the bell to sound. Gold and enamel front bezel set with diamonds, gold bow set with small diamonds. Small steel lever at five o’clock for the repeat, sprung dust shutter to the slot. In a small fitted oval brown morocco gilt decorated presentation case signed for the retailer Russells. Lined with cream velvet the gold key is accessed by lifting the cushion.

A late 18^th Century English verge by Brockbank with regulator calendar dial in stone set gilt metal pair cases. Full plate fire gilt movement with signed and numbered gilt dust cover. Pierced and engraved masked cock, silver regulator disc. Fusee and chain. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. White enamel regulator dial with two extra subsidiaries for age of the moon and day of the month. Central gold arrow hand for the minutes of Arabic numerals, the hours at twelve with Roman numerals and continuous seconds below. Gilt pair cases, plain gilt inner case. The outer with chased and engraved gilt bezels, each set with a single row of green and red stones. The back set with a restored scene of a spilt basket of fruit and birds. Concealed hinge.

Unusual cloisonne enamel back, black ground with translucent polychrome enamel over engraving forming foliate decoration. Button in the pendant to open the sprung front bezel.
