A rare mid 19th Century Irish fusee lever in a gold and enamel full hunter case decorated with shamrocks. Gilt three quarter plate keywind movement with fusee and chain, Harrison’s maintaining power. Engraved cock with polished steel regulator, plain three arm gold balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. English table roller lever escapement. Decorative engine turned and engraved gold dial with subsidiary seconds, applied gold Roman numerals, blue steel hands. Substantial 18 carat full hunter case with ribbed middle. Both covers engraved and decorated with two rows of shamrocks in translucent green enamel. On the front cover the shield shaped cartouche engraved with a heraldic device. The back cover centered by a harp in blue and red and enamel. Maker’s mark "JD" and number corresponding to that on the movement.
