A Patek Philippe Ref. 5013P platinum tonneau-shaped automatic minute repeater is set to head up Sotheby’s Hong Kong Important Watches Autumn Sale, which will take place on October 5.
The watch, which was made in circa 2004, so not entirely in the category of antique watches for sale, has been crafted with a perpetual calendar, retrograde date, moon phase and leap year indication and has been given an auction estimate price of £269,600 – £365,800.
The second watch, released in 1992, Reference 5013, is revered as one of the most complex timepieces ever created by Patek Philippe, totalling 515 parts. What’s more, this timepiece also features the first minute-repeater to feature an automatic movement. Additionally, this is combined with a perpetual calendar and retrograde date indication. The retrograde date hand performs a rather delightful movement as it moves along a 270-degree arc and flies back to the first of the month at midnight of the last day of each month, making it all the more appealing.
The sale at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre will present rare and complicated timepieces from a range of renowned makers, not just creations from Patek Philippe, along with a host of other cutting-edge modern wristwatches by both established and independent brands.
The sale is set to showcase in excess of 290 lots, with an approximate estimation of £5.15 million, in total.
