Lady Borwick is no stranger to the world of antiques and the decision for her election is sure to be a strong one. She has previously been director of Olympia antiques fairs for eleven years, a role she began in 1990 up until 2001. Borwick entered the world of politics a year later in 2002 when she became a councillor for the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea. Perhaps not by coincidence that this also meant her constituency involved covering the antiques-dealing districts of Kensington Church Street and Portobello Road.

Six years later, in 2008 Lady Borwick achieved a successful election to the London Assembly, realising the position of deputy mayor of London in 2012 under Boris Johnson, and in 2015 was elected MP for Kensington.

When discussing her new appointment, Borwick said: “I relish being given the opportunity of representing the association and, ever conscious of the difficulties facing the UK trade, will use my experience to do all I can to help the dealers in this wonderful industry.”
