Pocket watches are often given as a gift to mark a special occasion and a gold pocket watch belonging to Leicester City FC’s longest-serving club secretary is one which stands out for many, but now it is going to be available for one lucky bidder as it goes up for auction.

The 18-carat movement was originally presented to George Johnson to commemorate the promotion of Leicester Fosse, City’s early incarnation, to the top flight of the English football leagues during the 1907/08 season.
It was set to go under the hammer at Gildings auctioneers’ Leicester salesrooms, in Morris Road, Knighton Fields.
George Johnson is credited with helping Fosse secure promotion by finishing runner-up to Bradford City.
It is anticipated that the timepiece could fetch between £2,500 and £3,000 when offered at next Tuesday’s auction of antiques and collectables in Gildings’ Leicester Saleroom.
