Description

An early 19th Century Swiss verge in a gold and enamel case and diamond set chatelaine.  Full plate gilt fusee movement.  Finely pierced and engraved bridge cock with steel coqueret, plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring.  Silver regulator dial.  Round pillars.  Winding through the fully restored white enamel dial, Arabic numerals, gilt Breguet hands.  Gold case in the form of a shell, the front cover decorated in fully restored dark blue enamel.  The back with a fully restored polychrome scene of a cherub with an instrument at his feet, a section of the scene comprised of gold rectangles set with small split pearls.  Gold chatelaine with central oval cartouche of blue, white and green enamel overlaid by a diamond set floral motif.  Two bell shaped decorations enamelled in similar colours hang from the oval cartouche. Suspended from a later 9 carat pin brooch.
