Description

A fine late 19th century Swiss minute repeating lever in a gold full hunter case.  Keyless gilt bar movement with going barrel, snailed steel wolfs teeth winding work.  Plain cock with polished steel regulator, compensation balance with blue steel overcoil hairspring. Club foot lever escapement. Slide minute repeating on two polished steel gongs.  Fully jewelled including the pivots to the repeating hammers.  White enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, Roman and Arabic numerals, gold hands.  Plain 14 carat full hunter case, signed gold cuvette and glazed cover to the movement, maker's mark “Aug Ericsson”.

In excellent overall condition.  August Ericsson, 1842-1910, opened a workshop in St. Petersburg, Russia about1875. He supplied marine chronometers to the Imperial Russian Navy.  He often used movements from chronometer maker Victor Kullberg, also from Sweden who set up business in England in 1856
