Description

A 19th Century French quarter repeating cylinder in a fine gold and champleve enamel case.  Keywind gilt bar movement with suspended going barrel. Plain cock, blue steel regulator with temperature compensation curb. Polished steel parachute suspension to the top balance pivot.  Plain three arm gilt balance with blue steel spiral hairspring. Polished steel cylinder, steel escape wheel.  Push pendant quarter repeating on two polished steel gongs.  Fine engine turned silver dial, Roman numerals, blue steel Breguet hands.  Attractive slim gold case, the scalloped back decorated in champleve enamel.  The panels alternate between a pale green and puce backgrounds.  The green panels depicting various musical instruments and the puce with flowers and butterflies.  The broad front bezel similarly scalloped and with pale green and puce champleve enamel.  Gold and champleve enamel push pendant and bow.  Wound through the signed and numbered gold cuvette.

A very Attractive gold and enamel watch similar to those often supplied to the Turkish market.  The repeating movement reminiscent of Breguet's work, perhaps supplied by them or one of his pupils
