A late 19th Century Swiss lever with double sided calendar in a gold case. Keyless nickelled anti-magnetic bar movement with going barrel. Plain cock with polished steel regulator. Compensation balance with Paillard overcoil hairspring, club foot lever escapement. Silvered dial with subsidiary seconds and applied gold Roman numerals, blue steel hands. The phase of the moon is indicated through an aperture in the centre of the dial on a blue steel and gold disc. The other calendar indications are on the other side of the watch under a sprung hunter cover and glazed gold bezel. The days of the week and date shown by a single pierced gilt hand and the month in a rectangular aperture. The number of the days in each month are also given and the outer silvered ring indicating the day can be rotated by a thumb wheel to align the correct day with the date. The date changed automatically by a pawl on the movement. Rare gold case, black champleve enamel monogram on the sprung back cover opened by depressing a button in the crown.
