Description
An early 17th Century gilt German oval watch case made for a striking movement. Chased and engraved front cover pierced to reveal the numerals. The back cover decoratively pierced chased and engraved, a square for a bell inside. Engraved oval middle with later applied silver band. Fitted with a later English full plate fire gilt verge movement. Pierced and engraved masked cock, silver regulator disc. Plain three arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Plain gilt oval dial, Roman numerals for the hours to 12 and Arabic numerals for 13 to 24, heavy single blue steel hand.
